BIO

Jenny Kane is a photojournalist and documentary photographer based in Portland, Oregon. Over more than a decade with The Associated Press, she worked across the organization — as an editor on the Global Photo Desk in New York, as a Washington photo editor directing national political coverage, and most recently as Chief Photographer for the Pacific Northwest, Alaska and Hawaii.

Her work spans breaking news, protests and civil unrest, politics, sports and long-form documentary storytelling, with a particular focus on the social, economic and environmental issues shaping the region. A double major in photojournalism and political science informs the way she covers the systems behind the news.

Her photographs are distributed worldwide through the AP wire and have been selected for AP's Best Photos of the Year in both 2024 and 2025.
